Sri Prasanthi Society was started by a few of us, devotees of Bhagawan Baba in the year 1985 with the objective of rendering seva in thought, word and deed to the society. The society is registered in Hyderabad with the Registrar of Societies.
On a prayer made by the Members to Bhagawan Baba to permit them to bring out a special souvenir of Bhagawan’s 60th birthday , Swami graciously approved the project .You will be happy to note that in the year 1985, on the most auspicious occasion of Bhagawan’s 60th birthday, the society published a special volume Sri Sathya Sai Prabhawith articles in English and Telugu as a humble offering at His divine lotus feet. Bhagawan, in His infinite grace blessed the volume and released it on November 17, 1985 in Prasanthi Nilayam.
In the year 1990, yet another prayer was made to Bhagawan to release a special volume commemorating Bhagawan’s 65th birthday . Bhagawan Baba blessed the project and directed the Society to publish such volumes every 5 years. So, in the year 1990, the special volume, Sathya Sai - the Eternal Charioteer was published on Bhagawan’s 65th birthday, which was also released by Bhagawan in His infinite love and grace.
On Bhagawan’s 67th birthday, as per the divine directions ,a special volume,Sathya Sai - The Avatar of Love was published which was graciously released by Bhagawan at Prasanthi Nilayam on November 22nd 1992.
In the year 1995, on the most auspicious occasion of Bhagawan’s 70th birthday, the society brought out a special volume entitled The Splendour of Sathya Sai which was also released by Bhagawan in Prasanthi Nilayam.
In the year 2000, the society brought out yet another special volume Sathya Sai - The Saviour which was released by Bhagawan during the 75th birthday celebrations. All these volumes had articles contributed by eminent personalities across the world.
Likewise, the Society released Special Volumes viz., Sri Sathya Sai – The Almighty and Sri Sathya Sai – The Lord of the Universe on the 80th and 85th birthday of Bhagawan Baba. Both these volumes were released by Bhagawan Baba in Prasanthi Nilayam.
Subsequently, on the 90th and 95th birthday – Sathya Sai – The Supreme Master and Sathya Sai – The Divine Companion were published and released in Prasanthi Nilayam.
All the volumes released till date are sold only through the Sri Sathya Sai Books and Publications Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam.
We are also happy to inform you that six gold medals and six commendation medals in the name of our Divine Lord - Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai were instituted by the society in the year 1987 for award annually based on the Divine guidelines of Bhagawan Baba. These medals were awarded to the best students in Andhra Pradesh in the faculties of (1) Medical, Dental, Agricultural and Veterinary sciences (2) Degree in Arts & Commerce (3) Degree in Sciences (4) Degree in Engineering and Technology (5) Intermediate Sciences and (6) Intermediate (Humanities).
The awardees from the year 1987 to 1990 received the medals from the Divine Hands of Bhagawan at Prasanthi Nilayam on the most auspicious Gurupoornima day. Subsequently, on the directions of Bhagawan Baba, the medals for the subsequent years were awarded by the Governor of Andhra Pradesh in the Durbar hall of the Raj Bhavan.
We are pleased to inform you that with the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Baba, the society has also conducted symposia for Teachers, Principals, Professors and Doctors on Human Values and Education. In the year 1989, the Society organised a symposium Human Values in Industry for Industrialists and Banking Executives at Hyderabad. The Symposium was inaugurated by the then Union Minister for Finance, Sri S.B. Chavan. A souvenir Prasanthi was also brought out on this occasion. With this success, the Sri Prasanthi society organised yet another symposium Human Values in Administration in the year 1992 for Central and State Government Civil Servants (IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS etc,.) Heads of various departments of the Govt of India, Chartered Accountants etc,. This symposium was inaugurated by the former Vice President of India, Sri K. Krishan Kant.
In the year 1996, the society has started a permanent diagnostic clinic with a full-fledged pharmacy in Hyderabad on every Sunday to cater to the needs of the poor and under privileged. Eminent doctors from different hospitals of Hyderabad involve in this service activity.
As our contribution to the student community, the society conducts competitions in Essay, Elocution and Quiz for school and college going students on topics of national integration, Love and Service as the main themes. Thousands of students in Andhra Pradesh participate in this competition to win annual scholarships awarded by the Society.
